God's vision for Scoop Ministries began in 2005 as a small group of believers shared stories with each other, on a Sunday afternoon. For two years, one church hosted a function amongst its members called
"Get the Scoop". It is understood that women LOVE to talk and LOVE to eat ice cream. It is also understood as told in Matthew 28:19 that we are to GO and make disciples of all... so in 2008, the first "Share the Scoop" Conference, fanned out into our community to encourage and reach all women, so that the flavors of Jesus Christ could be shared.
This year, our 10th conference has evolved to be called: "The Overflow" and it will continue to nourish all women, helping them to know Jesus' living water, finding JOY in the overflow.
Christian churches and businesses of Tracy and its surrounding communities, partner with SMI by helping to sponsor our summer conference. Women from all Christian denominations work together by sharing their spiritual gifts as well as their financial gifts, so that the mission and objectives of SMI are carried out. At the "Scoop" Conference, ordinary women of the community share their "extra"-ordinary stories of how God is actively at work in their lives, delivering inspiring messages of hope, faith and love. It is the goal of SMI to develop programs that promote spiritual growth and also give financial support for women in our community
We have two great ministries to offer. Our “His Scoop to Share” Bible studies, connects women across non-denominational lines and helps them to grow closer to the Lord. We hold one study on Tuesday evening and one study on Thursday morning. And the “Flavors of Hope" grant program is for local women who may be in a short-term crisis. $35,273.74 has been given to 60 women and 5 organizations, since SMI began in 2008. Flavors-of-Hope Grants were added in 2012, increasing SMIs ability to provide for women who may be in a short-term financial crisis.
Scoop Ministries Inc. is a 100% volunteer run nonprofit organization and became incorporated in November of 2011.
